                           November Meeting
                                  of
                        The First Thursday Bunch
     Date: 11/2/95
     Time: 6 pm
     Place: WET Labs
             620 Applegate St., Philomath
After: Meet for pizza at At's A Pizza
Speaker: Casey Moore, President and co-founder, WET labs inc.

Casey Moore and a partner kicked off Western Environmental
Laboratories Inc.-WET Labs-in the summer of 1992, literally from a
garage. Today WET Labs inhabits it own, custom designed, 7000 square
foot building, employs 15 people, and has claimed a solid niche in
the specialized market of oceanographic instrumentation. VP Mike Gill
gave me a quick background sketch of Casey and the company.

With a Masters degree in Instrumentation Design (which
incorporates mechanical and electrical engineering), Casey went to
work at an optical instrumentation company in Corvallis. He came up
with some ideas for a unique line of instrumentation, that let to
what Mike described as a "difference of philosophy between several
people." The outcome was that Casey split off and formed his own
     company, WET Labs.

The company's signature instruments assess chlorophyll
concentration-and thus primary productivity-and light attenuation in
water, two key elements in oceanographic studies.

In the past year, WET Labs has greatly expanded its product line,
moving into the competitive market against several large companies,
has added a new and interesting dimension to the business, says Mike.

Casey will be speaking next Thursday, November 2, on his
experiences in starting up and expanding a business in a highly
     specialized field.
