You know... I was going to try a write-in campaign... part of the reason was to simply give voters a choice. Another reason was for the civic exercise. And finally... public service of this nature has always apealed to me. So, if elected... I fully expect to serve, and am prepared to bring the time and energy to the job that is required. A smaller contributing factor promping me to "run" were two GT editorials, encouraging a write-in campaign for Ward 5 because the GT considerd Mike Beilstein a "single-issue" candidiate, and expresses the need for voters to have choices and options. Well, I sent the GT a press release the other day expressing my intenetions, and I haven't heard back from them. Granted, the window of opportunity is closing fast, and write-in campaigns, are generally impossible to pull off. However, if they do end up printing what I sent in*, if elected I will serve. I do have a web site with my views on several current Corvallis issues at: www.chezdre.com, click on the "Remember to Vote" icon. Thanks for listening (and reading), Andre Prochaska Ward 5 Write-In. * In the past I've sent "columns" into the GT, and they haven't used them... or I didn't think they did, until two weeks later. This happened once on my 2nd published column on the Smoking Ban. I submitted it a day after the first Benton County Commissioners meeting that I attended. They then decided to print it more than 2 weeks later after a another Commissioners meeting. Between that time, I called and Emailed several times to see if they were considering using it, or if they (the GT) felt I had already had enough say, in that they had already rit. But I had attended the next meeting, and I would have liked to modify the article along those lines. So it really cheeses me that they couldn't at least call or Email me, and let me know the article/column was still under consideration for publication (since I had asked so often). So, even though they had enough time to use my submitted materials... (and did not) I wouldn't be surprised if they print them later than could possibly do any good. Anyway, there you have it.
