FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
Corvallis, Oregon. June 18th
The Mid-Willamette Fly Fishers (MWFF) of Corvallis, Oregon will be
hosting its Third Annual Fly Fishing Fair on Saturday, June 27th, 1998
from 10AM thru 3PM at the Lion's Shelter at Avery Park. There is no
admission charge. Parking is available within the Park.
This year's Fair will continue the club's presentations of fly fishing
related exhibits and demonstrations. These will include fly casting,
fly tying, identification of streamside insects, knot tying, and other
information useful to those interested in learning more about fly
fishing. There will be several fly fishing manufacturers, among them
Scientific Anglers and Scott rods who will be demonstrating their
products. The Oregon Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers will
present information on their organization as well as a special exhibit
on warmwater fly fishing. Area fly shops will also be represented,
and these will include those from Corvallis (The Scarlet Ibis,
Anderson's Sporting Goods), Eugene (Home Waters), Salem (Valley Fly
Fisher, Creekside Flyfishing, Fly Country Outfitters), and Seal
Rock/Waldport (Goin' Fishing). The Fair is designed to inform
visitors about the joys of fly fishing and demonstrate some aspects
including casting and fly tying. As in the past, the MWFF is making a
special effort to include children in these events. To make the Fair
even more interesting, the MWFF will hold two raffles, one for adults
and one for children - the prize will be a fly rod from Cortland
(youngster's outfit) and Scott rods (adult rod).
This year will also include exhibits and booths from groups that play
a part in making the fly fishing experience more enjoyable. These
include the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Oregon Marine
Board, the Corvallis Environmental Center, and the Northwest
Steelheaders. These groups encourage you to come down and discuss the
various issues that are important to all concerned Oregonians. While
the list is not complete or final, it underscores the issues that fly
fishers are concerned about and the groups with which the MWFF has
bonds.
