The Cornell Railroad Historical Society is proud to announce the annual
Finger Lakes Railfair to be held in Ithaca, New York on the weekend of
March 18 and 19, 2000. The event will be held at the New York State
Armory
Building, northeast of the city at the intersection of Route 13 and
Hanshaw
Road, just north of the Tompkins County Airport. Look for our signs.
The show is open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days. Admission is $4.00 for
adults, $2.00 for children (3-12), $9.00 maximum for a family.

As in past years the fair will feature all sorts of model railroad
displays,
exhibits, operating layouts, operating Lionel O and Standard gauge, as
well
as the large N and HO scale modular layouts normally operating at our
shows.

A new feature this year will be an 8' x 8' Lionel O gauge layout *you*
(or your kids!) can *operate*. Yes, you can take a turn at the throttle
and be the engineer. Blow the horn, throw the track switches and take
the cutoff track to dump your coal hopper and load up the oil drums!
Then see if you can load your gondola with scrap metal from the waiting
truck using the magnetic gantry crane.

If you have old trains in the attic and would like me to help you
evaluate
their value or condition (what will it take to make it run again?),
bring
them along and I'll try to help. You can also try running your own
Lionel
trains on the club's new 8' x 8' layout if you want to see if they still
run!

There will also be many vendors of HO, N and other scale models, Lionel
type
trains, building supplies, books, photographs, collectibles, etc. The
armory
is already booked solid with displays and vendors! Plan to attend!

Refreshments and a lunch menu will be available and served by another
non-profit group.
