I'm a little confused. The MIDI UART is the MIDI interface. (Typically, the program will not show the device attached to the interface, but rather the interface itself.) Is the UART option not working? And just to be sure, you're trying to make sound from the SB Live! and not trying to send MIDI to play on the RS-9. Correct? (If you are trying to make the RS-9 play, the cables would need to be switched to the opposite In-Outs at both ends.) The cable color most likely needs to be the same at both ends. -Eric "Peter Jensen" <peterjensen@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:9hgfn2$gc4$1@news.creativelabs.com... I just purchased a Roland RS-9 Synthesizer and I cannot make it work with the MIDI input in my Soundblaster Live Platinum card. I am connect Midi out on the keyboard to Midi in on the front connector on the Live Platinum card. No matter what I try, I do not get audio. When I go to: "keyboard", then "Options", then "Select Midi in", it just shows 2 options: (None) and SB Live! MIDI UART I believe I should have more options there, it is as if my computer is not seeing the keyboard. Although I tried everything, I have a double Midi cable with a grey and orange connectors. I am connecting the keyboard output to the card input and it does not work. Am I right or should I connect the other cable as well? Does the color of the connector have any meaning (other than identifying which is which)? I am running Windows 2000 in a Pentium 4 1.7Gb with 256 Mb RAM. Everything else (audio, CD, video, etc.) works perfectly. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Peter Jensen
