Win 2000 is notoroius for trouble with MIDI/Audio. Even under Win98 I
have noticed minute hesitations when doing other stuff. But Win 2000
is bad.

BUT. Make sure you have Win 2000 drivers, no conflicts with other
devices (including Video, network, other cards etc). In fact network
is very bad, as Win tries to check it at all openings/closings etc.

Apart from that, dual boot fro intensive MIDI work, or just wait for
MIDI to play. Sorry.
