hi Bubba first... YOU ARE MY HERO for finally putting all of this anarchy in one place. I've got a similar setup as you (though slightly older). If you uninstall everything, then re-install starting with the DVD player using "custom install" for everything - this will give you some access to things not being installed into the system tray, or better yet, not installed at all. For the crap that does, run "msconfig" (start|run|msconfig) and select the startup tab (or something like that) and uncheck everything except systray.exe one by one (you might have some important ones that need to stay). Also, you really could disable EAX? From my experience, you can keep it from loading in the system tray, but it cannot be disabled - I have to go to "audioHQ|speakers" and set the "current super environment" to none or my CD player is over-toned (did you ever turn up all of the tone controls on your stereo to the top and marvel as to how distorted it sounds) - this REALLY sounds shitty at 200 watts per channel with 600 watts of bass. As for deluxe CD player - that's what it's supposed to do, automatically play CD's - oh well, it's really easy to turn off. Disk Detector in my opinion is really kinda useful once you get to know it - it complements windoze autoinsert, allows control where there was none before and the best I can figure uses no measurable resources. peace!
