To isolate the problem (in your case, to tell you whether it definitely is a driver problem or not), I need to start step-by-step. This is why I asked you not only to remove all cards from your system, but also to remove any remaining traces of drivers and devices in Device Manager for all the cards (sound, display, modem, network). The hanging problem could be due to many reasons, including either corrupted or badly designed driver files. Corrupted driver files are solved this way, and badly designed drivers are detected this way, too. I tend to assume that you are facing the first version (corrupted files) and not the second, which is why I am suggesting you to remove all traces of the cards' drivers. BTW, I am also recalling your first post in this thread; what you said there looks pretty much like a resource conflict, and that is solved by removing ALL cards and their drivers (and any traces of them) and re-installing them one-by-one. However, it may be a totally different problem (e.g. due to operating system). If you don't want to go into the procedure I suggested, try to let Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/?page=productupdates) detect the required updates for your system and install all "critical" and "recommended" updates (whatever their size may be), then restart your system. If this installation is successful, you will have at least solved any Windows-related problems. If this procedure doesn't solve the problem and you still feel that it is a Windows-related problem, I would suggest that you post to the relevant Microsoft Windows 98 newsgroup (see Microsoft's support website for details) and get a reply from one of the excellent professionals there (I also communicate a lot with them for troubleshooting the PCs in our factory).
