When Windows attempts to reinstall a driver for any device, it must ask you for the driver disk in one of the dialog boxes. When it says that it can't install a driver, then either you have pressed "Cancel" in this dialog box, or the CD, diskette or location (directory) on which this driver is supplied could not be read properly. This is what I have understood from your message. Or am I mistaken? If I understand you correctly, you will need (in that dialog box) to specify the exact location on which this driver is supplied (as described in your card's user manual - this applies for any card you install) so Windows can continue installation. Of course, copying back the deleted .INF files will cause the problem to recur, since these .INF files tell Windows how to install the relevant cards - during a fresh installation process, they are copied from the installation CD. My target in solving your problem is to ensure that each card is assigned a different IRQ without any conflicts. To do this, I have to install the cards one-by-one and solve conflicts as soon as they appear. In your system, the PCI512 and the TNT2 are both conflicting in the same resources - normally, relocating the cards within the PCI slots solves this problem if the drivers are correctly installed (which is what we are trying to do now). If it doesn't, then we are facing a bad driver design which cannot be solved in this case unless Creative Labs provides an updated driver (as you have stated before, it is currently not available). Last step before I give up: Did you try to install the sound and/or graphics card separately in another PC?
