Q: Only 44.1 Khz digital output from a AWE64 Gold ???

Hi out there,

I hope someone of you can help me with the following problem:

I connected the SP/DIF Out of the AWE64 with a digital amplifier. The
amplifier
detected a sampling rate at 44,1 Khz. I can hear sound sampled at 44.1 Khz,
but
not in another Quality, so e.g. FIFA2001 will produce no sound on the
digital output.
My Question is:" Is there anyting Idea to get digital sound work with other
sampling
rates or is the SP/DIF on the AWE set to 44.1 Khz?
The amplifier is able to detect 32, 44.1 and 48 Khz but allways detects
44.1.
