pci512 problem in Windows98

I have installed my SB PCI-512 sound-card in my pc, but every time i install
the drivers in windows98, windows crashes.
When i restart windows, windows begins to play the windows startup sound
(with the pci512 card), but after a few seconds the
sound stops, and it turns to a never ending long beep, while windows again
is crashed. Windows will only run if i disable the pci512 card in device
manager.
The SB16 emulator in dos works fine - i have no problems running all the
test's in SBEGO.exe.
I do also not have problems with playing CD's from my cd-rom drive.

Can anyone please help me with this ??��
