Dear All, I'm really new to this news server & group(s). I got this computer, Dell XPS T600, in November 1999. It came with all the software installed and I actually never looked for any updates on software/drivers for the sound card. But now I have a few questions. When I click on the icon in the systray it says SB Live [1820] and also in the "Device Controls - AudioHQ the Sound Device shows up as SB Live! [1820] I have a CD that came with the computer and it says the following: "Sound Blaster Live! Value Digital 1024 Software." Windows'98 drivers version 4.026.624A Question: have been looking around on the Creative website and the Soundblaster website. The only thing that comes close to the items mentioned above is the sound card shown as on this website: http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sbliveplayer/ Am I correct about this? Then I have been looking for driver(s)/updates. I came to this webpage: http://www.soundblaster.com/drivers/ And thought to download possible new drivers. But the problem is that I don't know what to choose for the product. I don't see the 1024 in the product list. On the other hand... I thought maybe I can get something from this webpage: http://www.soundblaster.com/liveware/ But then... How do I know I don't have it already...?!? Is it released after November 1999...?? The AudioHQ I have has version number 1.0.185 Then I have another question: Creative PlayCenter used to show up after installing an audio CD. But since I've downloaded and installed the Windows Media Player 7 (final version) it doesn't show up anymore. When I start the program, by going to Start > Programs > Creative > Creative PlayCenter I can load the audio CD. But when I hit the "play" button I don't hear any sound. So I tried the diagnostic program and everything works fine EXCEPT when I hit the "Play" button in Creative Diagnostics it "sees" the audio CD and plays a track but again... no sound... Anyone has an idea about this? I know I saw somewhere an option "Restore Defaults" and maybe I should try this? Or will it be fixed by downloading the newer(?) version of Live!ware...?? That is it for now. Thanks for your time and possible answers... -- Jurren Bouman Email: jubo@euronet.nl
