I got a virus recently and had to format my HD and reinstall windows 98
SE. During this installation I encontered numerous BSODs concerning a VXD
for EMU10K1 (which I think is a driver for the SB). I was unable to get the
SB working and never heard a peep out of my speakers. After breaking my head
with this problem, I brought it to my local PC vendor to have a look. He
proceeded to reformat and reinstall but also had the same results. He later
found out the there seems to be a "known" compatibility issue with PIIIs
over 600mhz.

Whenever I put the card in and boot up windows, it auto detects and
tries to install the SB which leads to a frozen desktop. Has anybody had
this problem before? Can anyone help?

Please post or email at n.panetta@videotron.ca
