R.P,
     Try doing the following steps:

 1. Try going to the Control Panel > System > Device Manager >
Creative Miscellaneous Devices > to the properties of the
      SB16 Emulation device.

 2. On the General tab, either remove the check mark for
"original configuration current" or place a check mark next to
"disable in this hardware profile" and click OK.

 3. Go to the Start > Run > and run the command SYSEDIT.

 4. Go to the Autoexec.bat file and place an REM in front of the
SBEINIT line and save the changes.

 5. Restart the computer.

The device should now be disabled. If this has not occurred, then
try editing the CTSYN.INI file located in the C:\Windows directory.
Change the SBEnable equal to FALSE instead of True.

If the difficulty still exists, then you may need to download the most
updated drivers for the SBLive! from the WWW.SBLIVE.COM website
and then do the preceding changes.
