Hi folks:

I fear I'm in denial, but maybe not:       ;-)

my Creative 48x mx CD ROM seems funny to me:  it SEEMS to run ok BUT
with most application CDs it seems to whir on and off LOUDLY, A LOT,
and I feel like I wait during the pauses of the whirring (like in
the middle of a demo for a product, it pauses, stops whirring, then
picks up again), and when I take the CD out it is VERY HOT...
INNOCENT NAIVE QUESTION: IS THIS NORMAL?????
(my internal CD ROM is apparently model CD4833E BC102 , according to
Device Manager,although when I visited the Creative web site, they
don't list a 4833, just 4822...which made me nervous...)
Music CDs seem to play smoothly with no crazy whirring, just
application CD's.

Any more experienced thoughts greatly adds to my sense of
confidence,
