I've seen a thesis paper which suggests that this is in fact provable.  
If you define stupidity as a lack of ability in either the retrieval, 
analysis, or presentation of information in order to make sound decsions 
and arguments, one will find that as one ages one's information base 
increases at an exponential proportion up to the age where one's formal 
education ceases.  At this point, or knowledge of the world around us 
will increase at a constant yet small rate, however our ability to 
process this information stays constant.

This is like having an unlimited amount of memory in a computer, but a 
processor which is not upgradeable.  Sooner or later there will be so 
much data that it becomes a progressively slower and slower process to 
retrieve and process this data.
