Philosophy is fine, when tempered with whimsy. Because in the absence of humor, how can one tolerate not knowing? Humor is our great gift. Especially when it pokes fun of the things that we fear. Or annoy us. Like that guy down the street that has a sofa on his porch. I mean, what is that guy's problem, anyway? Doesn't he know it's going to really stink after it rains? Science is the future. And science is the gift that allows us to use our brains to understand the universe. And why we just know how that sofa's going to smell even before that moron forgets to cover it with plastic like you know he will. Besides which, if you have art and an appreciation of its many forms, you can enjoy the great achievements that mankind has had. Like lava lamps and cute doggies and aliens and stuff. http://www.svs.com/users/gmark is a bit of all of this. Except for the smelly part, which that guy has been told about.
