I'm also doing this cheap with used parts, so I : probably won't get a manual with the second controller card. What other : things might a controler card be jumpered to do? As far as I can tell you, one set of IDE headers can control at most two drives -- a master and an indentured servant. (Slave is so ugly of a word! :) So, if you have one header, you can only run your CD-ROM and one IDE drive. If you do put a second card in, you should jumper it so that is is, at the very least, not in the same place as the other card. Unfortunatly, I'm not in Linux right now, or I could tell you what ports to jumper it to. If it helps, the naming scheme goes something like this: primary master - hda primary slave - hdb srcondary master - hdc secondary slave - hdd Finally, you may find it simpler to just get an IDE card that alreay has both headers... -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Michael J.
