<rambelings> Well, I think I've finally figured out the difference between CS and CIS. Talking to a friend who is CIS, I learned that there is a roomer floating around that the business department is going to require CIS majors to have a notebook. This just goes to show that CIS people are in the evil spell of wintel (rhyme not intended). Wintel encourages everyone to have these super powerful (and super expensive) computers on every desk. Don't get me wrong, I see the need to brag about a 12 gig hard drive and 128 MB of ram, especially for those of us with small penises, but when the most powerful program you ever run is Excel, it's just overkill. In contrast, CS people are perfectly content with anything with an X server and network access. Instead of having a computer to take with us everywhere, we just know how to get to our resources for any computer on the network. </rambelings> -- Adam Carheden carheden@holly.ColoState.EDU
