Is : *that* a worthy use of our departments scarce resources? Actually, it is a neat use for CPU cycles that would normally be wasted. I suggest you read a little about it. It really is quite fascinating. Rather prestigious, too. I am actually embarassed that CSU is not up there on the lists with other recognized CS schools. The top CSU team, is being beaten by a k12 domain in Illinois! Visit www.distributed.net. I think you should note especially that the clients are designed to "soak up" extra cycles that would normally be unused. However, the NICE problem is my own. I'm afraid there is quite a difference between the GNU nice(1) and the HP nice(1). But guess which man page is there! For a clue of what I am referring to, compare renice(1) -- a true HP page. Again, my appologies on that one. I'm afraid the nice levels threw me there. For further reference, however, both ps and top report the username of the person running the process. Why didn't you just ask me? -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Michael J.
