Tonight's (6/22/95) NBC news broadcast discussed the problems with the
information superhighway and minors.  Increasingly the trend toward
censorship of this phenomenal resource is being supported and reinforced. 
Congress has started the ball rolling and it seems as though the Exon
Censorship Bill is going to be implemented.  Clinton certainly won't veto
it.  The NBC story spent the majority of time on a man who had ordered
some beer under his 10 year old daughters name.  He was upset that the
package was delivered without his daughter being asked for
identification.  These things may happen.  There will be some abuse of
these new tools.  I would prefer there be a few abuses of an incredible
resource rather than have a resource which is subject to government
regulation and various opinions of what is DECENT.  The story went on to
give Newt Gingrich credit for his remarks concerning Censorship.  Newt
thinks we should leave the net alone and let it grow and prosper.  I agree
with Newt.  Parents, watch your kids.  It's not my job.  It's not the
governments job.  It's your job.
