These are exteremely accurate, very loud audiophile class loudspeakers.
They love powerful amps, especially MOSFET and high-current amps. They
have brown fabric grilles on the top, front and angled sections. The
cabinets are a nice woodgrain looking finish (dark oak). The top-mounted
drivers reflect sound off of the room's walls and ceiling to open up the
soundstage without signal processing. The 8" driver and ribbon tweeter
are mounted on part of the cabinet which is angled back to project the
sound from these drivers forward and slightly upward. This eliminates
the need for speaker stands (which is good since the speakers weigh like
75 lbs each!). The speakers' driver arrangements are mirror images of
each other in order to preserve the soundstage. The ribbon tweeters are
crisp and precise. These are dbx Consumer Products Division's latest
loudspeakers.

The crossover connections on the speakers allow for easy bi-amping and
bi-wiring. Since the midbass drivers are so big, the woofers can
extend further into the very low bass. The result is very low
frequency bass that sounds loud even at low levels. Even an electric
contra-bass is reproduced with flat accuracy (try Al DiMeola's "Kiss
My Axe" album!).

I would like to get $300 for the pair but I might be flexible and
consider trades (especially computer or audio gear).

Shipping will not be a problem if you are willing to pay $72 for
postage. I have the original boxes, packing and manuals but I would
prefer to land transport them (one of us drives them).
