The mattress is from Rocky Mountain Futon. It's a top of the line, 8 inch thick (6" cotton with a 2" foam slab sandwiched in the middle, making it firm but not rock-hard) California King (extra long). This mattress is filled with 'garneted' cotton, which means that the fibers have been slightly felted or woven together which prevents the material from piling-up into lumps. Garneted cotten mattresses are quite difficult to find and fetch a premium price! The mattress cover is a 'natural' unbleached color and still in very good condition (it's *completely* stain-free, and in 'as new' condition). This is highest quality, 'hypo-allergenic' bedding. It is a futon bed and *not* a futon 'sofa-bed'. The pedestal base is professionally made, custom natural (unstained) hand-rubbed Danish oil finished oak plywood (about 12 inches high) which supports a platform made from poplar slats (which are somewhat springy) that are mounted within a dark solid walnut frame (imagine a walnut picture frame containing poplar slats laid down flat onto an oak pedestal base, and you've got it). Very sharp looking! The platform measures approximately 84 x 74 inches and *cannot* be disassembled -- it only weighs about 25-30 lbs, but can be a problem to move up/down narrow stairwells. I just wanted you to know that ahead of time :] Price: $250 for both. The mattress alone cost $500 new.
