I know my video card and monitor will support 16 bit color at 800x600. In windoze I can view images and wallpaper with near photographic quality. But with linux, all I get is pixellated color (256 colors) that is nowhere near photo quality. I've checked my settings, and linux 'says' I am running 16 bit color, but I'm not really. What files do I need to check to verify the settings? When I run an X-window, I can choose several resolutions, but the color depth stays the same lousy low quality. I'm running a S3Trio64V+ video card, could that be the problem? i.e., is the S3 drivers not set up correctly? Don't ask me to change video cards. I would love to do that, but on my POS, the video card is part of the mother board. :( Xylen, I can now set up and install Redhat in under 3 hours! I'm getting good at the basic install. :) -- __^__ __^__ ( ___ )------------------------------( ___ ) | / | This message has been brought | \ | | / | to you by the language C and | \ | |___| the number F |___| (_____)------------------------------(_____)
