Needed -- Computer science, or very computer savvy, student for
part-time, student hourly employment. We need somebody who will
be here for the summer and beyond. This will be an on-going
and flexible position that may work great with your school schedule.
Some desired skills might include:
Programming: C and/or FORTRAN
Scripting: Bash, Tcl, Python and/or Perl.
Web: html, Apache, cgi
OS: Linux (or any Unix variety) and maybe some
WindowsXX
System: Backup, upgrades and troubleshooting.
Obviously, you don't need to know everything above. These are
listed so you know the types work that the job might entail.
The Atmospheric Science Dept. is out on the West campus off
LaPorte Ave. so you would need your own adequate transportation.
For an interview please call or e-mail:

I saw that, and I removed the cross post from my reply, but why do they have to post it to csu.unix.linux. That's like invading my home. The whole reason csu.cs.jobs exists is so we don't have to read that stuff on csu.unix.linux. Those of us interested in jobs read csu.cs.jobs regularly. "J. We're looking for someome who knows linux. If have any friends that want
to
work with linux (and some other unix's) over the summer and into the
school
year, let 'em know about this job.
We're clustering linux to run weather models (beowulfing) and putting it
on
researchers desktops. The job is to help support these systems (I
believe...)
Anyway, this is a great oppurtunity, if you're interested, please stop
by
(Thorson's office, not mine.)

Do you get free rides on the NexRAD antenna? How about a retirement plan? Oh, and I don't think this was spam. They didn't try to sell you anything. If anything, I'm flattered that someone is intentionally /looking/ for Linux admins -- enough that they care enough to target the message. Also that they know enough about the rest of the internet (eg, everthing other than the WWW) to actually find the right newsgroup. If you like Linux, GET THIS JOB. ObRetirement: I think I have $17 of retirement money through TIAA- CREF from my years at CTV. I'm going to use it to invest in some shares of Microsoft, I'm thinking. -m "At least get one spin on the CHILL antenna!" dwyer -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Michael J. And you're right, it does sound like a killer job, if just for the beowulf! Should I apply? Would they even consider me after I ripped on their post? :) -- Adam Carheden carheden@holly.ColoState.EDU

They at least know that you won't fool around. I'd go for it, except it's way out on LaPorte. Tad far for a bike ride. Na, I'm out of town this summer and I already have a workstudy job next year, but one of us Linux geeks should take it so we can get some good beowolf advice here at csu.unix.linux. -- Adam Carheden carheden@holly.ColoState.EDU
