alrighty linux kids, heres the scoop:

finally got around to installing it on the compusaurus the other day..
after being fooled by the ol 'modem timeout' for the longest time, i
finally got the dial-in working. however, after i type in my username
and pw and get to the

acns-ts>

line, anything i type just refreshes the screen with the 'Welcome to csu
dial up ' etc etc... i tried typing 'ppp', 'lamar', 'holly', 'csugopher'
- no dice... any hints?

What program are you using when you get the prompt? Are you using
CHAT? Or are you using something like Minicom? I'm going on the
theory that you are using a chatscript that doesn't have all the
stuff you need, and chat doesn't take keyboard input.

Is this a reasonable guess?

Also, just for the hell of it, try typing your name as "remy%ppp".
I dunno if that does anything on acns-ts, but I've seen it work in
other places. <shrug>

Or how about this guess: broken keyboard. :)

I had exactly the same problem ...
Tried to config ppp by hand ..
But the "Welcome to CSU " thing kept coming back ...

Then I just used the scripts in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts , and configured them ... This was in Redhat 6
