Did you run LILO again to pick up the new kernel and boot with it? -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Michael J. Where is the kernel version number stored anyway? I'd think it would be hard coded in at compile time. -- Adam Carheden adam.carheden@colostate.edu (970) 689-1363

I think it is stored in (heh heh) version.h. Actually, I'm just throwing that out there. I should mention that the build number is hidden in a dot-file called .version. While I'm poking around in ther kernel, the version is stored in inclue/linux/version.h in the symbol "UTS_RELEASE" Unless you are using one of those satanic RedHat kenrnels, where it is hidden in two places depending if you want the uniprocessor or multiprocessor kernel. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Michael J.
