Don't you just hate it when a package has a new update every few _hours_? Release 2.21 is primarily a bug-fixing release: o The POP mail ID instead of the user's login ID was being used as the argument to the mail delivery agent. Much bounced mail resulted. o Leftover inline parameter declarations in socket.c have been replaced with K&R style defines. The 2.21 release is available via anonymous ftp from csugrad.cs.vt.edu as /pub/popclient-2.21.tar.gz. A handful of BSD-Net2 and NetBSD users have reported problems determining the correct mail delivery agent to use in config.h. This can easily be determined by taking a look at the system's sendmail.cf (usually /etc/sendmail.cf). The one or two lines which describe the local mailer look something like: Mlocal, P=/bin/mail, F=lsDFMrmn, S=10, R=20/40, A=mail -d $u P=/bin/mail indicates that MDA_PATH should be defined as "/bin/mail". A=mail -d $u indicates that MDA_ALIAS should be defined as "mail" and MDA_ARGS should be defined as "-d $u". In the future, I hope to have some sort of cutesy Configure script to figure all of this stuff out. To my knowledge, this version should compile cleanly and run nicely on Ultrix 4.2A, 4.3, 4.3A DEC/OSF1 1.x, 2.x SunOS 4.x (thanks to Scott and Mitch) AIX 3.2.x Linux 0.9, 1.0 NetBSD 0.9 I still haven't seen/heard about a Solaris port, but it should go fairly smoothly. If someone has done (or will do) this, please let me know. -- Carl Harris CSUGRAD Administrator ceharris@vt.edu http://csugrad.cs.vt.edu/aboutus/ceharris.html
