I am a sysadmin without documentation, help!

I have a Seagate 2 GB disk I want to add onto a DEC 5000/240
workstation running Ultrix 4.4 for extra swap and tmp space.
Previously, this disk was running just fine off of another
workstation. It was divided into a number of small partitions (d, e,
f) and I wanted to combine it into one large partition. So I used
chpt to change the partition sizes on the disk, which are now:

%chpt -q /dev/rrz2c
/dev/rrz2c
Current partition table:
partition bottom top size overlap
    a 0 32767 32768 c,d,e,f,h
    b 32768 163839 131072 c
    c 0 4178873 4178874 a,b,d,e,f,g,h
    d 0 0 0 a,c,e,f,h
    e 0 0 0 a,c,d,f,h
    f 0 0 0 a,c,d,e,h
    g 163840 4178873 4015034 c
    h 0 0 0 a,c,d,e,f

Then I did a newfs on each partition, and there are no
unusual errors, just your typical warnings about unallocated
sectors.

I can mount this disk just fine, but if I try to use "swapon /dev/rz2b",
I get "/dev/rz2b: No such device". If I run a "file /dev/* | grep
rz", I get the following regarding this disk:

/dev/rrz2a: character special (56/16) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2b: character special (56/17) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2c: character special (56/18) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2d: character special (56/19) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2e: character special (56/20) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2f: character special (56/21) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2g: character special (56/22) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6
/dev/rrz2h: character special (56/23) SCSI #0 RZxx disk #2 errors = 0/6

I'm not really sure what I've done wrong, but obviously something. Any
help is appreciated, thank you!!
