Hello,
We have a Decstation 5000 that has been running for years without
problems. This morning it crashed ("panic: trap" was all I could see).
After resetting (and also power off/on), it displays the cpu-type:
KN02-BA V5.7j, some stuff (3/mem/init, 3/scsi/cntl) and finally a
prompt: R>
The normal prompt for a DECstation is >> and then I know what to do.
To the R> prompt I tried everything; the only apparently meaningful
commands are: e(examine?), d(deposit?), ?, printenv, setenv, init,
reset (displays the cpu-type again), restart, go, cnfg and boot.
Only "boot" gives some answer: ?STX: boot [[-z #] [-n] #/path [ARG...]]
After all those commands, the R> prompt appears again. What weird
firmware are we trapped into?
And no, we do not have a support contract anymore for this machine...
Therefore, please help us; this machine was our link to the outside
world...
Please reply to dehartog@comcons.nl
Thanks in advance for helping us out!
