We've been given three DECstations 2100 and one DECstation 3100.
Two of the 2100 have an RZ23 disk inside, but they currently don't
boot from it (either they used to boot via network of the previous
owners wiped it). Now we've already got a 2100 with an RZ23 running
happily as an X terminal.
Can I simply copy that disk to the other two RZ23's? I've set one
RZ23 to SCSI id 2 and installed it in the working 2100. The installed
RZ23 at id 0 looks like this:
itp6 :/usr/users/schwarz>chpt -q /dev/rrz0c
/dev/rrz0c
Current partition table:
partition bottom top size overlap
a 0 32767 32768 c,e,f,g,h
b 32768 163839 131072 c
c 0 204863 204864 a,b,d,e,f,g,h
d 163840 204863 41024 c
e 0 0 0 a,c,f,g,h
f 0 0 0 a,c,e,g,h
g 0 0 0 a,c,e,f,h
h 0 0 0 a,c,e,f,g
What's the best way to copy it? Could I use dd (which options precisely)?
Or should I rather manually create the file systems (how do I create swap?)
and use gnu tar to copy the files?
I'd like to connect a 14" b/w monitor to the "new" 2100s, whereas the
old one has a 17" b/w (or something). Would that require any changes
(re. X server)?
Can I do so for the 3100's 200 MB Conner HD as well?
Any hints would be very welcome. Thanks.
