color monitor on DEC 2100: which X server?

I've put an old DEC color monitor at a DECstation 2100. The X login screen
appears in colors, but once I log in, everything is black&white. Do I need
some different X server? Or is it my personal settings?
in /etc/ttys I have:

:0 "/usr/bin/login -P /usr/bin/Xprompter -C /usr/bin/dxsession -e" none on
secure window="/usr/bin/Xws bc"

Do I need a different server than Xws? If so, which one and where can I
find it? Thanks.
