I'm hoping someone can shed light on this problem for me:
I have a DS3100 with a WREN V disk running Ultrix 3.0.
for the last year. In order to initially get the Installation
disk for Ultrix to see a third party drive, I had to make the necessary
entries in the install.1 program on tape to add the drive.
somthing like

UNKNOWN)
  ns=48;nt=15;root_D=WREN;;

This worked quite well and the installation was fooled long enough to 
start the installation and boot from disk. 

HOWEVER, now I am trying to install Ultrix version 4.1 on the same
setup and it will have nothing to do with this. It can't find
the disk geometry and says it is unsupported for a system disk.
Could anyone give me insight or information on how to upgrade
this machine with 4.1?

Ultrix 4.x calls unknown disks 'RZxx' while older Ultrixes used
'UNKNOWN'.  The name to use appears in these tables appearing during
installation.  That's the only new thing, replace 'UNKNOWN' by 'RZxx'
and it works as it did since 2.1 . 

 BTW: Why don't you install Ultrix4.2A???
