Denver-area (Littleton) computer-literate person needed to help disadvantaged 12-year-old boy get his 286
up and running.

I gave him the 286 (40 meg hd, 2 megs RAM, monochrome monitor, dot matrix printer) a few months ago, set
up and running well with WP, Windows (old version, 2 or 2.86, I think), and a few simple games. I thought
he would be able to launch himself with that start and begin to learn about computers.

But something went wrong (surprise!), probably with either the autoexec.bat file or the config.sys file, and I
can't figure it out from here (New York) on the phone. For one thing I'm not that good, and for another he
hardly knows the difference between a file and a directory.

So I need someone to go by and work with him and his computer a little bit. Find out what is wrong (it boots
okay from a system floppy, but not from the hard disk) and fix it. Get the computer back running, and give
the kid some basic help.

I can't pay a lot, but I do expect to pay an hourly rate. So no heavy-weight consultants, please. This project
would probably be best for a sharp high-school or beginning college student who wants to work a few hours
on the weekend. You will get paid, but think of it as charity work.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please communicate with me via email.
