The Cultural Events Board at the University of Colorado @ Boulder is proud to present John Battelle on April 16, 1996 at 7:30pm in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom. John Battelle is the Executive Managing Editor and one of the founding editors of _Wired_ magazine. Battelle's interest in technology as a cultural issue stems from his earlier training in anthropology at UC Berkeley. He will be presenting a talk entitled _How to Read the Net: A Cultural (not Technical) Revolution_. Battelle's talk will discuss how the net is the catalyst of our next unprecedented communication revolution, one so broad, deep and potentially frightning in its implications that many of us would prefer to outlaw, regulate, or ignore it. The net threatens to topple our current forms of government, to challenge our assumptions about education, and rewire the means by which our society communicates, interprets itself, and executes decisions. For more information or to request ASL interpretation call 492-3227, or email ceb@colorado.edu.
