The University of Colorado Cultural Events Board is proud to present
Philip Zimmermann. His speech is entitled The Role of Cryptography in
Modern Society, exploring issues in cyberspace.

Philip Zimmermann is a software consultant and self-described privacy
activist from Boulder, Colorado. His program called pretty good
privacy (PGP), which scrambles computer messages, has sparked
controversy concerning the data superhighway and its competitive future.
Mr. Zimmermann deals with important issues of the information
infrastructure and pertinent legal questions concerning the availability
of world-wide encryption programs. Is cryptography a criminal act or a
useful tool?

Philip Zimmermann will be at the University of Colorado on Wednesday,
April 12, 1995 at 7:30pm in the Glenn Miller Ballroon of the University
Memorial Center. The event is free and open to the public. This program
will be ASL interpreted for the hearing impaired.
For further information please call CEB at 492-3227.
