Dear All,

After discussing our options and resources with various members of the
staff and the department, I have asked Barbara to write to the Mid-America
organizers requesting that we be relieved of the obligation of producing
next year's Mid-America conference. Much thanks to those who offered
support and volunteered services, but the timing just isn't right for this
year given other obligations the department has. I am sure we will have
the opportunity in the next couple of years to again consider hosting
Mid-America and I hope that the enthusiasm will not wane by then!

Thanks again --- Jule
