It seems to me that bringing up polygamy is a way to dilute the argument 
for allowing homosexuals' marriage rights.  Our culture is monogamous, 
not polygamous.  The laws are in place accordingly.  Homosexuals are 
requesting that the same respect, priveleges and protections be put in 
place regarding their monogamous commitments.

The expected refute: out culture is heterosexual, not homosexual.

But: homosexual vs. heterosexual is not a lifestyle choice, such as 
polygamy vs. monogamy.  There the homosexuals are, trying to maintain 
dignity in the midst of a lot of "moral" hostility.  
Historically, hasn't polygamy been a system whereby one 
Man has several wives, who are basically reduced to being his chattel? 

Still, I wouldn't pick up the phone and/or campaign against polygamy.  
Because I don't think the rest of the world should be subject to my 
views.  But I also don't think that recognizing homesexual 
marriages is comparable to legalizing polygamy.

At any rate: Congratulations to Mike Mills et al on the success of their 
very eloquent campaign.
