STUNTWOMAN PROBLEM

I saw that there were some questions on the stuntwomen/helicopter
problem...this is how i solved it:

First, use the equation (change in y)=(Voy)(t^2) - (g/2) t^2

so we have,

33m=(12m/s) t - 9.81/2 t^2

Next, set this equation equal to zero...

4.905t^2 - 12t + 33=0

Plug this into the quadratic equation and solve for "t"...

(12 +/- square root( (-12)^2 - 4 (4.905) (3) )) / 2 (4.905)

When you solve this you get t=4.09s
Note: you also get a negative t but as we know, time cannot be
negative!

Now take 4.09s x 15 m/s = 61.4 m

Thus, the stuntwoman should place her mats 61.4 m towards the south.
