Hi,
Is it possible to make a Genera 8.3(MacIvory) IP masquerading gateway(or
should I write one)?
There is no existing code that I know of. I've wanted this myself, and
started a private patch to play around with the idea. I basically
patched in an extra clause to the (ip-retransmit-packet ip-protocol)
defun-in-flavor to call an extra method to either leave the incoming
packet alone (if not IP masquerading) or to transform it. My code isn't
suitable for distribution (lots of false starts and debugging code left
in it, my own particular IP addresses hardwired, etc.) nor is it
finished, but I have successfully done HTTP TCP connections through it
(no UDP or ICMP yet). I've invested about a day in that patch file so
far, so it isn't a lot of work.
I'm happy to answer questions and/or test out anything you come up with.
I have only one IP address with a MacIvory and Linux boxes(LAN). And
want to connect the MacIvory to the Internet, also to make others are
enable to access the Internet.
Any procedures, tips, helps?
