Okay, I searched around for type out related documentation read about the Function-T commands for controlling type out, but the notification still pops up. However, this doesn't sound like something too serious which should stop the X-Server from working. The "Using the X Server" doc is very brief. Perhaps I just am not using it right instead of this notification being the cause of failure. So for example, how do I open an xterm on display HAL:0.0 that gets its input from the Symbolics keyboard? Also, when I do Select-<SQUARE> on the XL, and then from the linux box do "xterm -display TRILOGY:0.0", shouldn't that pop an xterm on the Symbolic's display which would then mean I can do the Switch Mode command on the Symbolics and use it there? Currently, if I do the "xterm -display TRILOGY:0.0" command it does not display any error and appears to have worked fine on the Linux side, but nothing happens on the Genera side. Also, the Switch Mode command has several times locked up the machine completely (the <Network> key doesn't abort). The clock stops ticking and no Function key escapes work. I hope that if I have something to Switch Mode to then it won't be in danger of locking. Christopher
