Were you trying to change the mapping from Genera or were you using
xmodmap to change the mapping from X? I remember I couldn't figure out
a way to do it from Genera and so in the end went with an xmodmap hack
so that backspace did delete (and thus #\Rubout) so I didn't have to
reach for delete. Searching the archives, I saw I wasn't the only one
who couldn't figure out how to change things from Genera.
