I want to add a gigabyte to an XL1200; does anyone have any
particular recommendations for SCSI disks that will work well?
In a previous adventure, I tried some smaller SCSI disks and
found that they didn't work very well. SCSI commands would
often bomb out and totally crash the system. These same disks
worked just fine on SUNs. They supported variable sector sizes.
Perhaps there are additional device configuration constraints
that I didn't know about. Does anyone know what the actual
requirements are for adding SCSI disks to XLs?
Also, what are the LMFS and partition size restrictions?
How well does the Genera 8.3 NFS server work?
I am thinking I will back up the LMFS as an NFS
mounted file system using Legato.
Thanks,
Chris
We've been buying our 1Gb disks from Impediment (http://www.impediment.com,
617-837-8877). The storage module is a Seagate ST31200N (or maybe ST31230N).
I've heard that sometimes newer SCSI peripherals don't work with older devices.
