SYMBOLICS, INC. ASSETS BOUGHT,
FOUNDER HEADS NEW COMPANY [...]
Almost as surprising as the announcement, is the lack of any comments
about it; although there is little hard information to comment on.
Any speculation about what this will mean? Or about what the most it
_could_ mean? Can an Open Genera really make it back into the world?
Most of the long-time Symbolians here are still shaking our heads,
presumably in amazement.
It comes at an `interesting' time, as it is time here to decide about
maintenance renewals, and also time to decide about a replacement/backup
workstation/PC.
Well, get Harlequin LispWorks, of course!
Seriously, I can't make specific recommendations to you or anybody
else in your position, except that you should look carefully before
leaping. Note that there are lots of ex-Symbolians at Harlqn who
understand your concerns, and I think some of that is reflected in
some of the things Harlqn is doing.
