Computers in Science Education and Training
Workshop sponsored by Atlantic Provinces Council on the Sciences
and a Science Culture Canada Grant
The Jodrey School of Computer Science, Acadia University is organizing a
two-day workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to present the use of
computers in science education and training, including hypermedia presentations.
The program will focus on an inventory of current applications of computers
in science education and training to give participants an overview of how
computers are being employed in this area. The future use of computers, to
increase science awareness in science education and training will also be
addressed.
The workshop will take place at Acadia University, Wolfville, on June 15-16,
1992. The workshop will be held over a two day period.
During the first day, invited faculty members, high school teachers and
employees from organizations involved in CBT for science education and
training, will give 0.5 h long presentations. Also, there will be parallel
sessions showing courseware developed for teaching science. All areas of
science will be covered, for example Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science
and Mathematics.
On the second day, there will be a round-table discussion to determine
how CBT can be used in the classroom in the most efficient way.
The workshop will coincide with the International Conference on Computers
and Learning, ICCAL'92 to be held at Acadia on June 17-20, and so
there will be ample time for demonstrations of CBT materials.
