Dear Folks at Denton Urology, I'm disappointed...not angry, just a little let down. Recently, I decided to have the Vasectomy procedure performed. Because of a pleasant experience with your office a few years ago, I decide Denton Urology should perform the procedure. I called the office and discussed things such as procedure, insurance, etc. At the time, I informed the receptionist that my insurance was with a POS. She indicated that they did not accept HMO, but did accept PPO. She wasn't sure about the POS, but promised to call and check. I made the appointment and waited patiently. On the day before the procedure, the nurse called to verify the appointment. At that time, I asked about the insurance situation. She indicated that she was the one who checked with insurance and there would be no problem. As she put it, "no co-pay and no deductible...everything is OK". I asked for a Vallium, which she dutifully called in to my pharmacy. When I arrived for my appointment on "THE BIG DAY", I was asked for my drivers license and insurance card. The receptionist looked at the insurance card and stated, "We don't take HMO". I explained that it was a POS and had verified with the nurse on the previous day that the insurance was not a problem. The receptionist indicated that she was sorry, but there was nothing they could do. As I said earlier, I am not angry and certainly understand that things happen from time to time. I write this letter only to address ONE issue. I arranged to take a day off from work to have this procedure done. Because of the Vallium, it was necessary to arrange for a driver to transport me. She arranged a day off from work (without pay). These ramblings bring me to the only thing that really bothers me. Do you ever consider the impact that your actions have on the lives of other folks? After all, I made all these arrangements based on information provided by YOUR office. Sincerely, Ken
