Sorry but riding to work< 18 miles> in a heavy rain storm by bike is 
possible, but not something I would enjoy doing. As I live in the area 
where the most deaths are recorder every year from lighting strikes, in 
the US, riding to work in such weather can also kill me.

Now on a nice day, when I have gotten up earily enough, cycling those 18 
miles can be fun and highly enjoyable.

This AM I am going to cycle 24 miles one way to meet my mother for a meal 
and then cycle around all day and I am not going to used my van, however if it 
was  driving rain, I would take the van this time. 

Cycling have it place, but it is not a 100 percent all weather 
replacement for other means of transportation.

I will agree that being told to get off the road by some asshole,
driving a old junk car that is not worth as must as my new touring bike
is annoying, but I don't think that a bumper stricker will help stop that 
kind of behavior.
