XYZ, Unfortunately, what you have observed is typical for the Mt. Vernon Trail. Also it can also be expected on other trails in the DC area, but perhaps not quite to the same extent. It is also unfortunate that these people do not use the trails enough to learn what is proper behavior, but they are always being replaced by other clueless individuals. The only solution is to avoid the trails on the weekends, or whenever the weather is nice enough to bring out the clueless in large numbers.
