The best place I can think of for a date is Sarinah's Satay House. It is on Wisconsin up near Thomas Sweet's (sorry I can't be more specific). The restaurant is "downstairs" but have a lot of skylights in the back and lots of plants. The Indonesian food is great! If this is too much atmosphere for a first date - Aditi, Maduri, and Zed's Ethopian (on upper M street) also are quiet places with great food.
