  Excuse my ignorance, but what is pho???

Pho is a noodle soup which is a staple item in Viet Nam.  It generally
consists of a large bowl of rice noodles in broth, topped with one or more
meats.  The meat choices include things like steak strips, brisket, tripe,
tendon, etc.  The soup is served with hoisin, hot garlic sauce, fresh basil
leaves, hot peppers, bean sprouts and limes wedges, which are added to the
taste of the eater (usually liberally!).  When done decently, it is
wonderful, and generally quite cheap.  Almost everywhere in DC has a good
local pho place.  My favorite is a dive in the shopping center at the
northwest corner of Viers Mill and Randolph Roads, in Wheaton.  I have no
idea what the name is (its in Vietnamese), but the sign is bright yellow.
$5 gets you a huge bowl of delicious pho.  And as an accomodation to western
tastes, they also now serve chicken pho.
